David,
I think this is the road you're referring to. It's pretty popular run for the two wheel crowd. You're absolutely right about their being quite a bit of kick ass swimming holes all along the way.
This video was posted on a local rider forum by some sport bike guys. These guys are batshit crazy and none of this should be attempted by anyone else. I actually lost a good freind in a car accident at the 180 degree turn at minute 3:21. Flipped a truck late at night and he was killed instantly.
The video does give you an idea of the beautiful country we have out here. You could take this ride in about two hours an really soak up the scenery...I'm sure these douchebags did it in about 45 minutes.

This rider with the camera in this video doesn't know how to set up his bike.It never should have been bouncing that much on those roads. His suspension is set too stiff to properly absorb the road imperfections.
The rider ahead of the cameraman is not riding properly. The rider should not be sliding around like he is, as the bike is not leaned over far enough to warrant the movement. It is obvious to me that the rider doesn't use nor understand counter-steering. Going fast on the straightaways doesn't mean you know how to ride ... just that the bike goes fast. I mean the bike never even comes close to scraping the pegs, even though he is hanging off the bike like that.
Watching them and having just ridden that road last summer I am sure I could out-ride them with my old GL650. The GL500 doesn't have enough torque to pull through the curves at higher speeds ...
Please ... don't ride like those guys ... not because of the speed, but because they don't know how to ride.
Also, if you don't want to piss off the public and give riders a bad name, don't pass in no passing zones and ride like an idiot.
I will get off the soapbox now.
