Hi - 1979 cx500 (z?) ,Can anyone give the steps to remove the small fairing so I can respray it please. Had a look in all the manuals but it still isn't clear to me. I took the headlight off bit cant see where the bolts/screws are located to get the thing off. Any help appreciated.

There are two bolts behind all the wires. Take some pics of the wiring before you unpack it.

Once you've separated the cowl from the turn signal stay (and unplugged a thousand or so connectors), there are, I believe, two small flange nuts that secure the gauge assembly in the cowl.

Boy this makes me appreciate the GL500i. Four bolts, four nuts, and 1 connector plug. Cross your heart, lift & separate, pun intended, lol!

But, you've got a lot more work to strip your fairing for painting.

Thanks for all the advice and help guys - much appreciated. Just looking for a job to do over the winter lay up. It's not the painting that was daunting but the getting the thing off. Cheers.
