Tried the horn yesterday. Possibly the first time in it's life that it has been used. Have the 12 volts to it when the button is pushed. Took the horn off and thried to "jar" it. I believe they are a vibrating membrane. Took the adjusting screw out and shot some WD-40 into it. Still does not work. Any ideas short of replacing it?

There is always 12V to the horn when the key is on. The switch "grounds" the other side. Test it with a jumper, 12v to one side neg to the other.

You can open the horn and readjust the contacts to make it work.

Alsoo check for continuity through the coil in the horn with a meter. You may have to turn the adjusting screw in and out to be sure.

I bought one from a local cycle shop that's the exact size and mounting for $6

Darn thing is louder then heck compared to a couple of stock ones I had.

Had I the room (and money) I'd love to have one of these:

For $89 at Amazon you can get one of these: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/WLO-836

As to fixing your stock horn the contacts have probably corroded to the point they're beyond any sort of repair that would last, I'd spend the $6 at a cycle shop for one like I got, especially since it's an exact fit using the original mount.
