I received a hondaline luggage rack today that I bought off of ebay. I have a '80 cx500 deluxe. Does anyone have any experience installing one of these? Any hints or tips?

Does it have the slide out sissy bar/backrest with it?

It appears as though you need to remove the existing "grab-bar" as this replaces it.

The larger whole with arrow pointing looks like mount for turn signal stalk.

The forward "U" bracket fits at the shock/spring mount?

Is it identified by Hondaline marking anywhere or just sellers "word"?

Looks like a nice piece regardless, should clean up well.

Hard to say from that picture. If they both use the same mounting points I'd think not.

If you can't use it (rack) I can.

Yes...It's Hondaline...has a sticker on it. Does it look like it'll work with this sissy bar?

That looks like a KG sissy bar. What does it say on the back between the two screws that hold the pad on.

'Stitch, he was answering my query about the make of the rack, not the sissybar.

Just to clarify.

Ok.

It's still a KG right.

I saw one once that was a luggage rack and had 4 bolt holes for a sissy bar.

See photo on seat removal thread. The Arrow points to a turn signal mounting hole. Yours is the same rack minus the back rest.

Yep,same rack minus backrest.

So it should fit on a Deluxe, even though that is a Custom.

Only maybe not with that existing 'sissybar'; couldn't see how it was mounted

Looks pretty straightforward; couple of hours should see you right.

If you can't use that sissybar with that rack,"Little buffalo" is looking for a sissybar.

(or I am looking for a rack)

The forward collars serve as standoffs to mount where the signals were with a bolt into the frame. Metric of course.

I'm betting this rack with your custom is going to be an either/or setup with the sissy bar.

Just need to find the Sissy bar that slides into the rack.

I have an A&H brand rack that used Ubolts to mount to the existing grab bar on my '78 CX500 (Z) (deluxe as they later became known.)

You like the sissy bar because of your passenger or for yourself?
