Hey everyone, first post for me!

I have a 1982 Honda CX500 and I am putting new handlebars that require me to replace the current front brake hose/cables with longer ones. I am just wondering what specifics I need to know before ordering a new set. I assume any brake line kit will work as long as the fittings are compatible, does anyone have any suggestions or links to a brake line set that will work for my bike?

Thanks!

I currently have on drop bars with 30" brake hoses and I am putting on the stock bars for a cross country trip because they are more comfortable for riding.

What I usually do(for aftermarket steel braided) is once I have the new bars on and in position I'll raise the the front wheel off the ground then take a string or wire and measure the distance you need (dont forget to subtract about 2 inches for both the end fittings) then I call Dennis Kirk support 320-358-1915 to get some part numbers then the order line 800-969-7501. You will need a straight fitting and a 45 (dont quote me on the fitting size but I think yours will be 10x1.25) Its also a good idea to replace your crush washers.

I recently got mine from JDA. Here is a link to their site and phone number: AN Plumbing Earls Fitting, Fuel Management Race Parts & AN Hose. Many members on the form highly recommended them, as they have the specifications already for our bikes, you just need to know how much longer you need it, and they'll make it. Cost me 48 bucks to have one made and sent to Iowa, came with new washers and the correct fittings. Highly recommended rather than a standard kit. Good luck!
