Hello Tony, wish to clear up a couple of points here. This rack, as delivered will bolt up to a stock 1980 cx 500 custom, correct. Will the raw steel rust, excuse my ignorance here. Is powder coating extra? Thank you, Paul
Hey Paul. The rack is not meant for any particular bike as it’s universal. It would be up to you as to how it mounts. It’s on my website for purchase. You can purchase it raw steel or powder coated blacks.Hello Tony, wish to clear up a couple of points here. This rack, as delivered will bolt up to a stock 1980 cx 500 custom, correct. I think I have a solution for it bolting up to your stock bike. I just haven't proved it out yet but the engineering side of me says it will work. Look up : makerpipe.com basically you will use your existing rack that is bolted on your custom bike. Your wrap around is 3/4 inch. I will provide a solution that will be clear. I can zoom / call or whatever if needed to make it more understandable.Hello Tony, wish to clear up a couple of points here. I’m currently finishing the design for the brackets to mount up to a cx500 custom or deluxe stock. Does your frame have those same mounting points ?will this work on an unmolsted cx500 standard?
This is a close representation of what the bracket/rack will look like. I may have a few minute changes but this is really close. The finish of the brackets will vary. Im working with a company to produce spectra chrome. Similar to chrome but wont rust or pit. The other choices will be satin black smooth finish or textured black. Also working on a backplate for the Honda text to make it pop. I have an example I will post from my phone after this post. The rear subframe on a CX500 Standard is the same as on a Deluxe. A rack built for one will fit the other.
