i bought a cx500 custom once it gets back from having tires on it i'll update profile and everything but... i am having the the temp gauge trouble which i found on ur forums and i'm also having what i belive to be a fuel problem i got it to idle but choke has to b pulled out for it to run correctly and i can get up and go i just found out that there is no filer in the air box could this be causing my bike to get to much air and is why i have to choke it out to get it to run better if choke not pulled she idles beautiful but go to kick down on throttle and i guess u can say it floods or not enough air/fuel ratio more more air no fuel so choke it and purrs like a kitten and runs great but at same time revs it at 2100 rpms and gets annoying after a bit i love this bike hence my name luv hurts she's an 1981 cx500 custom i have done new intake boots helped out alot i dont wanna hear the words she's blown or goin to blow so anyhing or anyone to help me would be so appreciated i'm also located in ky know it doesnt matter but i'm throwing it out there

it is imperitive for these bikes to have a clean airfilter,without it,will give you problems.

another big issue on these bikes are air leaks.there are 6 possible place to get leaks.so,with the bike idling on the main stand,spray a copious amount of carb cleaner,hairspray or wd40 in and around the carb boot joints [6]any change in revs,up or down will need to be addressed.

your carbs may need a service as well,this will help you

your idle should be around 1100 rpm,if it wont,then probably one or more of the above apply

thanks alot guys i love thats theres a website dedicated to this and if i have any answers for u guys then i'll jump in and help as quick as possible thanks a million even if it doesn't fix it lol
