Well the guy I got the bike from couldnt find out what was wrong with the front brake, said it was not leaking. (also didnt really put to much effort in). So he drained it.

So I have a drained front brake that does not work. What are some steps that I could use to go about seeing what is wrong with it?

Thanks.

Strip it and rebuild it .. Top to bottom. Tear down calipers , inspect rebuild kit , new resivior and master cylinder rebuild kit , new brake lines , pads and fluids :D

Happen to know how long ago he drained it? Sitting empty for awhile could do all kinds of nasty things. Like JoeBuck said a full rebuild would be the best way to go. Brakes aren't something you want to do halfway.

Very strange logic from the PO...
