Hey there guys....Well I have returned to the CX world...a couple years ago I purchased one from a guy in Austin got it running again and did some cosmetic work but ended up selling it last year to fund a trip back to South America....... Anywho last week the guy I sold it to called me up and told me he had taken the bike completely apart and now didnt want to pursue the project. So he sold it back to me at a very reasonable price. So now I am back with a complete CX in pieces and now I will be able to do everything I wanted to from before.

Just wanted to say hello to everyone (I never posted much, just kinda lurked and stole some good info).

Also to any moderator who may read this I cannot get my old loggin info....it would be nice to have my old profile back so any help is greatly appreciated..

Take it easy,

Mark

Yes to answer your question I am the 3rd and 5th owner of the same bike...pretty lucky I think.

Yeah this newbie business is kinda funny but ohh well, no worries here, just glad to be among like minded friends(when it comes to badazz bikes at least!)

J.J. I am on the southwest side of Ft. Worth, are you close? I saw another guy whos location says cowtown so he must be pretty close too....could be cool to ride(once its all back together again:)

Ummm anybody know if you can get an original wire harness, mines all hacked up and seems to be stiff, possibly even brittle,Im not really wanting to mess with the old stuff.....any suggestions?

There's loads on Ebay.Always a craps shoot though and I don't know the differences for the CX500D.I do know the TAI(Transistor Advanced Ignition) harness is different from a CDI model CX500.

Thanks Shep, I notice your always quick on the info, definitely appreciate it

what part is Yorkshire, last Oct. I was checkin out Stonehenge and Bath, very very nice..also went to Dover..(sorry off topic)

So whats the deal the TAI, was that only on the Deluxe?? My serial number matches with the 78 and theres a deluxe tank( all banged up though so I switched to a custom tank in the meantime) that came with it, but I do have a later model CDI unit off of an 81 or something like that...so do I have a deluxe or Standard....?

Sounds like you have a question mark bike. 78-81 models were all cdi.

When hunting down a new wiring harness you need to know what the control plug ins look like. Some are rectangular and some are square depending on the year of the bike. You don't want to get the wrong harness.

When did you leave us? If it was before August of last year then your old profile is long gone. And so it the website around it. But we do have a modest archive of it.

I guess I would be the "another guy" in Fort Worth. Actually in the Burleson/Crowley area to be more precise. Where at in SW Ft. Worth are you? Hulen, Byrant Irving, Benbrook? When your profile said Funky Town, I figured you were in Austin.

Welcome back, BTW!

About three miles due south of you as the crow flies. Not too far from CHS.

There are a few CXs around the area. Believe it or not, I saw a red CX500D two days ago on Crowley Road going into Burleson. Ended up a car behind him at a red light, and the bike wasn't running worth a darn. Sounded like was missing and loading up as he was having to idle it about 3k to keep it running. Could tell that he was very frustrated with it, so I let him be. Have seen a CX in Arlington this year as well.

Mine is torn apart at the moment waiting for parts to arrive. Motor out for cam chain/tensioner and a search for sources of aluminum in the oil. Last check parts will be here Tuesday. I guess eight business days qualifies as fast...

Absolutely!!!

I'm the kitchen manager at a pretty cool place between Seguin and Gonzales and we're getting more and more bikes in all the time. A road trip around the hill country would be great as well!

Ha sounds like fun. My bike is in a box though. I have been working alot and havent had alot of time get her back together yet. Marble Falls is in the highland lakes and tons of bikers come here for the roads in the hill country and lakes. I keep seeing them and its making me want to get back to work on the bike. As for Dallas, I dont get up there as much as I use to.

Im almost done rebuilding mine so I will be ready in just a couple weeks---whats the name of the restaraunt??

And Dallas riding kinda sucks anyways, Ft.Worth is way better, then head south or South East...thinking of riding out to Caddo and down through Louisiana also---OR I always wanted to ride out to the observatory out west..I heard those are great roads also......
