And a happy one to all, nice 4-day weekend of pigging out and watching football if you're into it. I was watching the news this morning, we're going all out here serving anyone that will come for breakfast and food throughout the day. While we have an extremely low number of truly "homeless" there are a lot who need and will not turn down a free cooked meal or two and the last I recall our food banks were fairly well stocked to take care of the rest of their weekend.
Rare thing anyone goes hungry or without shelter around here, all they have to do is ask but, as with many, some are just a bit too proud. It's not unusual if a policeman sees someone sleeping under a bridge to stop, talk with him/her and offer a ride to any of several shelters we have. Some end up here by accident, some have truly met hard times, some know we're friendly enough that they can come here and enjoy a vagabond life for a while without hassles.
What I don't approve of are the professional street corner panhandlers, many of which could give you change back for a $100 on a $1 "donation" so to speak. Local college made a 2 week study of this a while back, dressed the part right down to the crudely made "Homeless, Please Help" sign. and averaged a good tax-free $120 a day for just standing there. Sad but true.

I might do a bit of shopping tomorrow. There was a buy one get one free vice grip sale. But really don't need to deal with the retardation.

Not shopping either, but NewEgg has a rather attractive deal on a 47" LG with good specs for $699 + $50 airfare.
The company learned long ago never to ship items like LCD TVs via the normal carriers.
I'd probably have to give you a direct link to their sale to get the promo codes, darn thing is 12 pages long this year but I don't need any more 2 TB hard drives even if they are $70/free ship.

Damn I just checked the weather knowing people will be waiting outside to get in the stores at 2,3,4, and 5am for those sales and if anyone is out there I hope they brought heaters and everything else they could find because here in Milwaukee it says it is 20 degrees out and feels like 5. Now remember this is american temperatures not that sun in the shade stuff bandit gets. That's -7 in his language. We could only wish it was a sunny 68 degrees.
I guess it's time to hunt up a good pair of winter gloves.

Cold here as well, and with some wind. Last time I hit one of these sales they had a mad rush when the store opened and ran out of what I wanted before I could get through the line.
I *might* hit up the Guitar Center to see what the $69 Martin guitar is. Obviously a cheap import but if it carries their name it may not be a bad one for decoration at the office that I won't mind if anyone picks up and beats on. If it fits my hand and plays well I may be tempted because I'm sure not taking my Gibson 12 string anyhere out of the house.
