Guitar on CX

What's the best (and safest) way to transport an acoustic guitar on my '78 CX500Z?

I am not going to buy a travel guitar, because I am kind of addicted to my dreadnought guitar...

I would say make a bracket like you would for a hard saddle bag. Get a hard shell case to mount to the bracket. Put your guitar in a soft case that will insert into the hard case.

I have a padded soft case that I used to wear on my back when I cycled to some local gigs.Should be fine on a motorcycle up to say 50/60 Mph.

And even beyond that if you are careful. I drove 173 miles to my cabin in Ottertail, MN with my acoustic strapped to my back in a soft case. I drove 70-75 on the interstate. I was a little concerned, but the bag held up. Granted, I was rolled up into the fetal position with my clip-on's, so I am not sure how you would fair sitting up. After 3 hours my back was killing me...

Simply the rough edit. You absolutely will not believe what I did to it after reworking the melody, adding a gentle rain stick loop in the background, and recording a friend of mine whooping softly. Incredible...

the american chopper guys did one bike with an electric guitar holder, was pretty neat but those guys have allot of resources at hand

I wont make awful puns about not fretting over it

cos I know how highly strung some folk are and how picky they get

and that sort of thing may strike the wrong note and cause discord.

I might try out the whole softcase on the back thing next time I go to band practice.

I made a rack that slipped into sockets mounted on the bike. All copper pipes and fittings that bolted to the trunk. Guitar on one side and D'Jimbe on the other.

I'll get a pic next time I put it on

If you install a sissy bar/backrest you can strap it on with a cinch or ratchet type nylon webbing. I carried my really heavy djembe to many gigs up to ~60 miles away, never had one problem.

LOL, I haven't heard the term "rain stick" in a ***** age....I may even still have mine around here somewhere....cool things those.

You obviously are in tune with your feelings, and have a good ear for a good riff when ya need one. Even if it's a bad pickup line.

I like the tone of this conversation. Seems be in great tuning.

I have a roadstar guitar case from guitar center. I took my schecter hellraiser to a friends 30 mins away on my ninja. I think my case was 40 or 50. Seemed fine. Its got two shoulder straps so I was only concerned with the zipper. But it didn't move so you should be fine.

agreeing with backpack case. i used to ride a bicyle with one. going into a head wind the part of the case with the neck in it will catch some air. so ride accordingly

I think I like Phoenix Blaze's copper pipes idea. It's cheap and I can get it in any shape I want. I'd appreciate it if you put a picture online, so I can see the construction.

The sissy bar is also a good one, thanks!
