Good golly! I know now not to use Simichrome polish on my header pipes. Turns the chrome yellowish (with heat)!! I can't get it off now, unless someone has a good fix.

Question; is there a reputable business in the midwest that can re-chrome my header pipes?

Second thought on the header pipes turning yellowish: This bike is relatively new to me so I checked what kind of filter that was in the airbox. I found a rather course foam filter instead of a pleated paper which makes me think that that filter made the engine run a little lean, causing a higher temp going out the exhaust. I ordered a pleated paper filter tonite!

What do you guys think? Would that foam filter affect it that much? I'm shooting in the dark on this one and it still could be the Simichrome polish............I don't know.

I dropped by a Harley shop today and got some of that polish. I haven't tried it yet. They told me there that Simichrome polish would not do that and my engine could be running slightly lean on mixture. The leaner it is the hotter it gets until the head temp gets too hi then problems develope.

I hope my air filter gets here soon!
