I just bought a 1981 GL500i. I love the bike and want to overcome the hidden flaw. I bought it from a guy that had three and said this one was just sitting and not going to good use. After a few hundred miles the rear cover started to leak up high on the cover. I have done some small stuff to my other bike like rebuilt the brakes with new seals and done the full service oil change (brakes, cam tension, and clutch adjustment). However, i have never dropped an engine and remove anything that takes a "real" mechanic to fix.

So my question is........What should I expect a shop to charge me to replace this seal and any other that would be obvious to do once yo have gone this far? I only paid $500 for the bike and don't mind putting a little into it.

two days later
I hear crickets.....just crickets.
