I have a trunk and bag set with chrome mounts, for a '84 Goldwing Aspencade, that I would like to attach to my GL500I. Ihave seen this done to a bike that was sold on E-Bay. Just trin to figure this out. Is this a major mod, or can I complete the project myself?

I was mulling around that idea myself when I got my GL500I. I was thinking of taking the saddlebags and rear trunk off a GL1100 goldwing and mounting it on my bike. The only problem I felt I would encounter was getting the chrome guard rails and/or trunk mount rack holes to line up as they seem to be wider than the ones on the GL500. I'd really like to see some pics of how you mounted them and how they look.

Do you want to take some better pictures and close ups explaining how exactly it was done? That's a goldwing fender also right. How do the chrome rails hook on and so on.

I have a set of those brackets so this could be in my future.

Nice job Chris, it looks really nice, must of added a bit of weight to the bike. What year & model Goldwing did they come off of? Going to have to look into doing something like that as I really like the Goldwing trunks and saddlebags. I see your bike has the same lean mine did with using the kickstand. You may want to check the kickstand bolt, my bike use to lean that far until I checked the kickstand and found that the bolt was almost ready to drop out.

I like those bags. I rode with Shoie bags for years. They really weren't much larger than the bags that come on the Silverwing, but they were top opening. I could pack a lot of stuff in them. The Silverwing bags opening sideways seems a bit silly to me. Pack very carefully, or risk things falling out when you open them up. Looks like a good job to me!
