I currently have a 82 GL500 Interstate with full fairing and accessories. I removed the rear saddlebags(or saddle cases), and really like the look of the Silverwings stripped down with either just a windshield or nothing. Im wondering is how consuming of a process removing the fairing is? and once I do, do i need to acquire clamp on turn signals and mirrors, if so, which are the best ones? And what's the best, reasonably priced, aftermarket windshield out there for a GL?
This is my first bike and Im dying to get my license in a couple weeks and get out on the road after a long Illinois winter, had the bike since last July!

You can take the fairing off in about 20 minutes... Then replace the wiring box on the forks with a headlight and bucket... I didn't replace the turn signals on either of mine... I just put mirrors on the bars.
