Has anyone tried to put the gas cap from a deluxe tank onto a custom tank?

I like that its one piece & not separate lock/cap, but don't know if they lock the same way or if the deluxe cap is the same length as the custom lock arm.

Just yesterday I looked at a cap from a deluxe tank ( i thought) ... not sure what year, but it fit my custom. I did not try and use it as the custom cap has a lip that goes over the outside of the tank filler and the deluxe did not. I thought it might leak on a full fill...

Maybe mine was a standard tank cap on second read of your post as I was not aware of any difference in the locking arm or locking cap. ( I thought they were all the same two piece design and did not have that part)

My smaller canon camera is dead, otherwise I'd post a pic...

My deluxe tank has a separate cap and cover. It is different than the custom in that the cover completely covers the cap not just a bar over the top. Also the area of the cap and cover is recessed into the tank to match the profile of the cover. Even if they did fit I don't think it would look right.

The Standard and Deluxe have a separate cap under the cover. The Deluxe cover locks, the Standard doesn't.

Are you thinking of the GL500? It has the lock cylinder in the cap.
