I have a 1983 CX650 Custom. I'm reasonably handy - I've replaced fluids, bulbs, last did replacements for the rubber turn signal mounts.

I see the tell-tale signs that i need to replace front seals. Oil leak, dirt bands on fork.

My first question - are replacing seals a reasonable DIY, or is there a safety risk that i should really go professional?

If DIY doable - tips for getting started? Uncharted territory for me. Much thanks.

Fork seals are easily replaced.

Yeppers, cx650 should be similar to the Gl650, which I just completed, there is a couple links in the pinned thread in the general discussion forum, lots of pics, and we are here to help.

Two biggest things, have a proper circlip tool and impact driver for the hex bolt. 2nd, do one at a time, if you missed how it came apart you always have the 2nd for reference.

thank you for the feedback ! I will have a go at it.

I see another post rec 20W oil - i will look for the bent nose pliars in the drawer that conatains all those tools i never thought i would use.

I like this new set-up, i actually used this site before i did my turn signal stems - i just found it in the archive. 1 reply had said i might need to drill my after=market stems, sure enough when i couldn't fit wires thru, didn't hesitate to drill - all because of that suggestion, and VOILA, all went well. Learning from others experience is great.

thanks again.
