So my CX500 had clip-on bars when I bought it. The bar mounts hit the tank when turned all the way and put some dents in the front of the tank. I bought some lower-profile clip-on mounts to hopefully remedy this, but I noticed the fork tubes hit the tank before the stop, even with no handlebars installed at all.

I'm wondering if I have a CX500 Custom with a Deluxe tank installed on it. Are the stops / turn radius different on the Deluxe bikes than the Custom? I'm scratching my head here...

My very first bike was like that. I eventually figured out that the PO had replaced the entire front end with one from a different model and the stop on the frame wasn't right for the ones on the triple clamp. I fixed it by drilling & tapping the stops on the triple clamp and screwing bolts in so the stop on the frame hit their heads.

So now you have two choices, move the tank back for clearance or fix the turn stops to prevent contact.
