Taken descent care of.....This one kept covered on someones porch since 94. No battery. Going to get a sealed one from Walmart. Keeping my fingers crossed that it will start. Assuming it does, any points to check from other owners?????

Thanks,

Brad

Make sure it doesn't leak antifreeze out the waterpump (right below the carbuetors). It's an engine-out procedure.

NO it is not. In fact, expect it to leak after 16 years.

Wait, Abe... are you saying the 650 water pump seal can be done IN the bike? I thought it was only the 500 that that worked on. Please prove me wrong as it will save a lot of labor
I won't be upset

Yeppers, waterpump mechanism is the same as the 500's. Remove the cover, and impeller, and she's right there, pop the old guts out of the cup, put new ones in and go ride.

500 pump

650

As for my comment, expect it to leak..... My current 650 had sat for at least a couple years. It dribbled a bit, off and on, then eventually stopped. I'd say ride through it for a bit, as long as it's not hemorrhaging coolant over your shoes, to see if it stops on its own.

On the other hand, my Beta 500, sat at least four years outside and didn't leak a drop....
