Well s most of you know I have been fighting a cooling / overheating problem for the last two months. I had damaged the low mile radiator and replaced it with a used one from ebay. After taking the cooling system apart a few times, I was amazed at how much gunk and build up a bike could have with only 3100 miles but sat for 25 years. After replacing nearly everything I finally took my low mileage radiator to a shop and had it welded and cleaned out. The total cost was 45.00. Now, after reinstalling it and two rides, it runs perfect and does not overheat with the temp gauge just slightly right of center even in 90 degree heat. I feel like doing back flips but at 53 that is not happening. I also polished the scratches out of the tank and side covers, polished the chrome and touched up the frame a little. It looks nearly new now. The wheels need a lot of attention and I have not had time to clean them yet. And for it to be perfect, I would paint the engine and polish all of the aluminum on the bike. I had though about selling it and just have not made up my mind on that yet. It looks like a 3200 mile bike now. Thanks to everyone who helped me through this process as I was very frustrated at not being able to solve a simple problem quickly.

LOL. I raced mx and Hare Scrambles until two years ago when I trashed both shoulders. They have healed but too much traveling for work has cut out that fun. But I just love riding.

Not to,"Rain on your Parade" but under normal riding where does the needle sit? Both mine sit on the nominal mark except on the warmest of days when they may be an 1/8" above that.

Just to be safe I would check your 7v regulator supply just so you know you are getting a good reading,

Glad to hear you got it resolved. Now you can't sell it. Just take it over to Rick's place and he will finish polishing everything for you. If you are up for a ride, Rick is bringing his bike over to my place on Saturday, Sept 11th. We are going to do the stem bearings, change a tire, wheel bearings, valve adjustment, and who know what else. Come on down if you can.

Glad to hear you have the radiator issue fixed! My temp gauge shows about the same for the current weather we have seen here recently.

Blue Fox, I will be in Columbia that weekend for the MS150 ride. I'll shoot you a PM and if I can get away after my shift, maybe we can meet up.

Sounds great, Brian. Just PM me and I'll give directions. I think Rick will probably show up about 9:00 plus, and we will be wrenching for 5-6 hours.

LMAO ! Yeah come on down, I'll buy the beer !

As far as your wheels go: As long as they are clean and not all scuffed or scratched to hell (just faded) then a product called "Black Back" works GREAT at bringing that black paint back to a new looking shine and brilliance.....I'll bring some with me in case you show up and you can try a little on your wheels.

Only bummer for me is I have to trailer my bike to Blue's since we're gonna do the valve adjustment (needs to be stone cold) or I'd say meet me in Sweet Springs on your way out and we'll go the rest of the way together as you pass right by me from the KC area to Blue's.

My wheels are painted silver in the spokes and aluminum on the outside of the rims. The al is a bit corroded and the painted parts have a bit of rust. It looks like a lot of fo work!

Rickbert,

No that is not my bike. Mine has 3,200 miles not 32,000 although it does look like that. Doesn't seem like a bad buy though does it?

No not a bad buy and I looked a little closer and the seat does look a little different than yours...wow other than that they look real identical....what got me was I know you're in the KC area and that person is from Overland Park (KC area for those of you that don't know).

I also notice he said in the ad "a 42 yr old bike"...I wonder if that was a typo or if he just SUCKS at math LOL

To add to Sheps post

" just right of centre" sounds a bit on the high side to me too

I've always found the junction of the thin/thick lines to be the

norm with occaisional rises on hot days or in traffic of course.

BTW

I see your bike had 'sat' for years

My eurosport motor had sat for only about 5 years before it was given to me and I started using it again.

I had cooling issues which only got resolved after fitting new head gaskets.

I'm not suggesting this is your problem, just offering it as a possibility if your cooling problem continues.
