Hi guys,

I'm looking to replace the final drive unit (as pictured) as mine seems to be weeping oil from somewhere, and it seem's easier to just replace with a donor one than to fix it.

I was wondering can you use the final drive units from any model? or does it have to be from the same.

For example, mine is a standard 1980 CX500, but the final drive I am looking to buy is from a Eurosport model, does that affect anything?

Thanks in advance!

you will need a three-bolt unit , from a twin-shock bike . The Euro bike one wont have a mount for the shock absorber as Euro's are Pro Link suspension.

Have you considered that the leak could be caused by failed gasket.

Could be a very inexpensive fix. Might just be a split O-ring.

Either with repair or replace, you'll need to disassemble.
