So I found it strange that I wasn't getting any email notifications last night so I looked around at my setting and so on. After not finding anything I just figured that it was because I changed my email address (which those problems I had signing up with was talked about in a previous thread). Well earlier this afternoon I got 17 thousand emails at once.
So I'm guessing that the email server was back logged or something....and that I'm not crazy because I couldn't see the super secret setting that turned off notifications.

I may or may not have exaggerated some numbers for dramatic effect.
