The 1982 Gl500 has a factory electronic ignition.

The GL's all use the same electronic ignition modules. They are extremely reliable and robust components.
I would like to see some improvements as described in the Transistorized Ignition thread, though. It may be possible to implement these changes by adding a small timing control module (to be designed) between the timing pickup coils and the ignition modules.
