15-bucks on eBay won't get much. The exterior chrome will clean up with 0000 steel, but I couldn't sleep knowing rust never sleeps. Got lucky and found a vintage quart of Sherwin black Acrylic Enamel (contains Xylene Toluene & Lead!) in the paint room. That ought to stick. Next day it's not raining here in NEPA, gonna swab some in those tubes.

The pictured cup brush is coarse wire. It only worked in the open area where the wires go through the blinker stem and would not fit in the tube. I had to get a fine wire cup brush to run down the tube. Seems 1-3/4" is the smallest common shelf size. With some squeezing and poked fingers the fine wire brush just fit. The project would go a lot better with a smaller diameter brush. Even the fine wire took some coaxing and buggered up the brush pretty good. Low RPM's and leather gloves proved to be helpful. Next build: Giant Q-tips to swab the paint.
