Check for exhaust leaks.Backfires as opposed to misfires are caused by unburned fuel in the exhausts.If is ,"Popping" then as per above check out the Air-Cut-offs.

I need to educate myself on these carbs as they are very different than the simple varieties I've previously dealt with.
