Where can one get a set of main bearings for the CX or is there an alternative part one can use?

a reputable engine rebuilder will be able to supply you the bearings you need
Why not to produce (bronce) main bearings like these ( ? )
Brass Metal Copper Auto part Bearing

These are used for BSA 650 etc.
Produced with an undersize, so you can grind the crank and have to customize the bushes/bearings for the correct size.
The bushes must be installed into the crank house to get the right/correct angle for the crank and rods.

Yup, if I don't come right, it looks like this will be my only option..

I am really not wanting to spend MORE money on custom engine bits (I've already spent more on engineering than what I paid for the bike originally) but it may be my only option.
Thanks Murray, I ordered the 2 brown ones and a black - they are on their way down to A-A-Africa.
Hi Trev2010 did you manage to source main bearings for your cx500 and if so can you give me an address. Thanks Maurice

As I wrote Bronce.

For the type of bronce I have to ask my friend who sold a lot of these bearings for the old BSA*s
i tried bronze bearings they do not last long at high rpm and load
The bronze bearings in the picture are for BSA A650 with it's longstroke engine and 53 bhp @ 7000 rpm.
And good to run for minimum 50.000 km
yes but try doing them and installing them in the cx case with out the support flange thrust design like the bsa bearing

they dont work !
Qurious, would it be possible to renew the bearing surface in old bearings? I know it would require some custom made tooling. I think of my Model A Ford with cast in place babbitt bearings.

Yes.
Here is a picture how they made it in former times. Nowadays they will have better technical solutions ;)

Not necessary to explain that the bearing points on the crankshaft must (first) be ground.

Hi Guys!

Has anyone come across new original or aftermarket main bearings lately?
Rebuilding an engine and could find only the con-rod bearings...
