I'm sorry I know there is probably a million threads like this, but I was wondering what is the easiest front end to swap with an 81 Honda Cx500. I don't know whether I have a CX500C or CX500 D. Any fast way to tell? Its been cut and stripped a lot. I have read that CBR's are easier to do because I don't have to buy a conversion stem. Just looking for a range of years that will have a good rake and trail. When I contacted a salvage yard, the guy yelled at me because I didn't know the measurements. I want to use the CBR rim to make it easier. My budget is around $600. Thanks

Here's some good info.

CBR600RR looks to be the easiest just need some bearings.

I am doing a YZF R1 swap myself, patiently waiting for my stem to arrive from Incognito.

For cost savings I would look to try to score a complete package if possible

Maybe check out cognito for a stem and get a good tire, you may be over the $600 mark, but getting a full front end will save you time and $ on the back end.

Good luck!

CX500C
That's a Custom tank, and the frame shows the correct mount for that.

What about a GL650I swap? That would be within your budget and has a better fork brace.
