Hi Guys :D

Some of you have seen my build that I completed last winter, It's running great all summer and I've put some good miles on it.

About a month ago a friend of mine got a Custom CX in a great mechanical condition and wanted to build a Cafe Racer out of it, I'm helping him with the metal work.
Our plane is :
Custom tank
Similar to mine rear section, changeable seat
Front End Swap with stock 19' wheel

I have already completed the frame and the one person seat

Ditto on the rear end, me likey a lot! :encouragement:
Plus...the amount of work that got the tank to shine like that....I wouldn't want to cover that with paint either :hatsoff:

Front End Swap also Done, found a Yamaha 125cc bikes front end I don't know witch model it is from so maybe someone could identify them also painted the frame, tank and rear seat. Now I can see that and polishing the sides of the tank by hand was worth it. I also used the dentist mirror method to check the cam chain tensioner and it look that it has bright future to look foward, when we bought the bike it didn't have the speedo so I don't know how many miles it has but I suggest it has about 10,000 - 15,000 well maintained miles on it :D.I tried to take a photo of the tensioner but my camera couldn't focus on the mirror.

I also have an issue with the drivetrain, I just can't get it out of the wheel so maybe someone (murray) has an idea how to get it out ;).

i have seen the rear wheel issue once like that

the splines have gotten so dry that the wheel flange is rusted to the final drive flange

try tapping with a rubber mallet on the front edge of the final drive where it bolts to the swing arm

you may have to bolt it back on the bike and then hot the wheel away from the final drive with a hammer and a block of wood against the

wheel to break it loose

Some progress done.

I tried murray's suggestion without force but it didn't work so I decided the leave it there and don't damage anything.

Painted the engine, wheels and mounted them to the frame.I was really worried that the front end is too short for that massive engine but they feel really good on the weight and stable, no need for a fork braces there.

I'm really liking the lines on this build, very well done. It has that chopper stance with a Cafe riding position. It looks both aggressive and comfortable :)

I'm anxious to see the end product! Looking good!

Thanks Guys! I really appreciate the compliments from you.

With me on the bike, the front end comes down to give it a straight cafe look and the handle bars turned out to be very low compered to the tank maybe lower that I want them to be terms of comfortability but I can live without it for a better look. :D

I had plenty of free time this week and did great progress

Got my seat back from the upholster

image_zps644dd071.jpg

Almost finished the wiring harness

image_zps72d1abab.jpg

A bit messy under the tank to have the front of the bike clean

image_zps36032187.jpg

image_zps2bcb99ef.jpg

Mounted the battery under the engine by using the H box brackets (Accidently mounted the solinoid upside down before I took the picture)

And made the exhaust from the old stock mufflers , they basically straight pipes but the muffler section has a holey pipe inside wrraped with glass wool like this one.Hope they will sound good.
