Hello all, I'm from Indonesia and hopefully I can be a CX owner in near future. CX are very very rare here so when somebody's selling his CX400 Euro, I get this strange rush
....anyway, I found on Ebay that CX500 engine parts are easier to find, so I'd like to know if most of CX400 engine parts could be replaced by CX500's or not...

Any insights on this would be helpful as it'll determine if I'm gonna stay as a member of this forum or not

thanks,

Gifny

I would say the parts that aren't swappable are the rods and heads but everything else should be fair game.

As Stich says + you would expect the gearbox to be different too. I don´t know about the primary gear (crank/clutch.

I´m quite sure the 400 EURO (like the 500 model) had "non-CDI" ignition. That means that if you´re looking for a "CDI-type" engine, there´ll be some parts that don´t interchange. As long as you stay with a EURO or non-US (at least European) spec. Silver Wing engine you should be fine.

As far as I know

Yup I read it somewhere they have different gear ratios...the problem is the easiest way for me to get parts is ebay.com, which most of the parts come from the States...

Yes, but don´t forget eBay UK and Germany! USA didn´t get the EURO model, but both UK and Germany did. I realise that language may be a problem with eBay Germany, but your handle tells that maybe you know some........

If we´re talking reasonable amounts of parts (auctions) I may be willing to assist with translations (of course at no cost). I routinely check eBay DE for "finds" to my bikes.

Yes you are right...checked the Ebay UK yesterday but it seems that not many parts sold lately, maybe I'll check out the German Ebay today....God Bless Google Translator!
