I am haveing trouble removing the seat from my 1983 CX 650 Custom. I removed the four hex bolts from the grab bar behind the seat and tried to lift up and slide the seat back, but it won't move. I also tried to slide it back and then lift up with no luck either. I noticed a bolt under the rear fender that appear to go into the seat base so I removed that and still no luck. Is there a trick to removing the seat from this model? I can't figure out what is holding it in place. I do notice two hooks under the seat that lock in place to a pin but when I try to move these hooks, they seem fixed in place. I thought maybe they might be spring loaded, but it appears they are not. Not sure what I am doing wrong here.

The forward most bolt on each side of the sissy bar is what secures the seat down. There are collars inside of the grab bar that you do not want to lose. You want to lift straight up on the seat - I think the plastic tabs on the seat may be catching on the grab bar or something on its way up. Did you remove the grab bar completely? Might make it easier for you to see what is going on and for the removal. Again, don't lose the collars/spacers though...

Thanks, I do see the collars and even tried to remove the sissy but I couldn't get that off either. I have all four hex bolts removed and the sissy bar is loose, and moves, but I can't get it off. It is getting hung up on the collars I think. I will try it again. It seems to me that the only way to remove the seat is to remove the sissy bar, however, other people have told me that you don't need to remove the sissy bar to get the seat off. It is odd that I can't remove either.
