Sorry for the out of focus pic ( I got a little too close), but it appears, based on the nicks seen here, the previous owner(s) have already been into the clutch at some point.. Seems like they did not use the correct tool bit when removing this nut....wouldn't you say?

I've read about talented members of this forum making their own tool bit, but I'm not so talented. Apart from purchasing this bit, is there any other way to remove this nut without hacking?

King Gator socket. Works great. Will edit when I can get a photo quick.

King Gator Grip.

It's not really a deepwell socket. Half of the socket is springs, spring loaded pins puch back out of the way, therefore conforming to the shape of the object that presses upon its pins. The pins resemble needle bearings. Works great for me and others. Bought mine at the hardware store. (Fleetfarm)

Wiggle it a bit so that all the pins settle and you have a Gator Grip! makes an excellent addition to any mans toolbox. (Ok... so I've only used it on that nut, but don't tell anyone.)

+1 for the King Gator, mated to an impact gun and you don't even have to lock the engine.

If your looking for a common hex nut to fit it, try a Brofaco outlet (there are many around and think there is one in New Market. They will have just about any nut/bolt/fastener you could ever need.
