Hey Guys! Bought an 81 CX500 Custom with a GL500 engine this summer. Spent many hours fixing issues, mostly electrics, and had the bike running nice for the last two weeks. Love it! Two nights ago somebody backed their car into my bike and drove off. When I got to it I discovered the clutch lever broken, the handlebars bent, and the little thin spring on the choke linkage had come off. Bought handle bars and a new lever, but the choke is not right. Basically the bike idles nicely with the choke pulled out, but when you push it back in it revs high. Like it's functioning backward. I'm assuming I reassembled it wrong, but can't see how. The spring pulls the choke cable back in as per usual. Might something I'm not considering have been damaged in the fall? Does anybody have a picture? The Haynes manual is not helping. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

You're going to need to take the carbs off and contact larry to see how many times to wrap it around.

I will also go check my Larry carb rebuild book.

Looks like Larry's book says to let the spring unsprung and then wrap it around 1 time. He used a hook shaped pick to do it but in the book he jokes that it sucks to do.
