Recently my 1978 CX500 has not been starting. I take off the Murray Carbs and notice that they are full of gas and overflowing onto the floor (slow drips). So I clean them out with some carb cleaner and the bike starts right up! I then drive around town and everything works great! However, I jump onto the freeway and once I get into 5th gear it begins to lose power and dies out. I then turn off the bike and start it back up without an issue. I can drive home in 4th gear, but once I get into 5th gear it begins losing power and eventually dies out like its running out of gas.
I have taken off the gas tank and adjusted my throttle slack. I figured that maybe my throttle elbow at the grip was accidentally turned or bumped against something. So I loosened and gave a bit more slack, thinking that maybe the carb slides were not closing all the way causing the flooding issue. Any ideas?
