Not sure what you mean by "set stone". How are you synchronizing the carbs?

A rough approximation can be done by eyeballing the throttle plate as it lines up with a tiny bleed hole and matching both carbs to the same visual appearance. Another method is to use a pair of the same size tiny drill bits and adjust both throttle plates to touch the drill shank at the same time. This is much easier before the carbs are reinstalled, and is therefore called "bench synchronizing" (by me). It is more accurate to balance them by vacuum with them installed and the bike running though.

I've bench synched with drill bits in the past but I've read that the bits can cause dings in the edges of the butterflies that can cause problems when the throttles are closed so I don't do that anymore. These days I look through the carbs at a light and watch for the light apearing under the butterflies at the same time.
