hi all,

got a tough one here i am afraid.

putting these 81 gl500 carbs back together.



getting to be time to ride even up here in maine!!



so during disassembly i noticed that beneath the idle screw i only found only a rather squished o-ring... and no washer.



now its time to put things back together and i need to know what to put back in there and where to get it. any thoughts?



hoping to find something at the hardware store, but not having an original washer to bring with me to match up to is a problem.

They usually come with a full service kit and may even have varying lengths.

There are two types of kits with different Float needle valves.The Metal and Black Plastic FNVs have a small spring on the top.The full Plastic floats don't have the spring.This will help you identify the type you need.

Also check that no remnants of the o-rings have been left inside the carbs as they can cause heaps of problems if there's any debris in there.
