Thanks in advance for reading. I'm rebuilding my carbs on my 1980 cx500 and the kit I bought did not come with new ACV's. Am I just asking for trouble if I don't put new ones in or maybe not? Secondly,,,, when I removed the plastic bleed cover on one side, there was a pencil erased size yellow fibrous like thread thing there. No clue what it was. Any help is appreciated. When I parked the bike last fall it would no longer idling and backfiring often. I removed the carbon and it sat on the workbench all winter. Thanks

Replace or block the little orifice where the little o-ring make a rubber disk

honda back in the racing heyday use a properly sized ball.

Adjust to best idle. Should be about 2 turns or more.

The air cut valve was to eliminate Pop or actually afterburn

in the pipes with a super lean low speed and idle mixture

for low emissions.

Idle is where most gains could be found so honda and keihin

gave us air cut.

Yamaha never used the idle drop.

Instead went for AFR using an EGA way simpler to deal with.
