So I ruined one of my 79’ carbs, the one without the throttle springs and bought a “new pair.” Turns out on the carbs I just bought, the carb with the throttle springs has the posts holding the float broken off inside. As far as I know they’re from an 82’.

can I combine my 79’ carb and the 82’?

Just for the sake of knowing, do you know if there would be anything wrong with running different yeared carbs as a pair?

I do not know anything about the carbs on the GL500 Wing. Your '79 carb does not have the accelerator which the '82 carb does have so it may be fun getting the jetting right and balancing the carbs. I suspect that it can be done.

The accelerator pump was an American market addition. The 500 Wing might not have it.

Oh... I see two cross-over ports, so it will have the accelerator pump.

Carbs without pumps have a larger venturi.

I suspect they wouldn't balance well. You might get them synced at idle, but at open throttle they wouldn't breathe the same.
