Very cool! After looking at it, it seems that those pipes would hit in a leaning turn! Scary!....

Very cool though!

Can you lower the front at all or have you already?
Fornt end is not lowered, its in its stock position in the trees. I'll find out later today if the pipes are to low, gonna go for a "real" ride a little later.

Interesting build. I would have done the radiator in a different color - maybe the lighter blue you have on the suspension/pegs? I would also wrap the headers/pipes to make it one color and look continuous vs. pieced together. There are small baffle plates that rotate that have been used for decades on bikes - they baffle the pipes to quiet them down but can be turned 90 degrees to let the pipe flow freely!

About the Vetter fairing - what became of it? I am working on putting one on my CX. Still working out the details on the mounting bracket.
Was gonna use header wrap originally when I was going to make the pipes longer. For now its ok, but may use wrap later. There are baffles in there, believe it or not. Its really not as loud as some might think (but I'm used to riding harley's).

Nice Bike!

Your colors are close to the colors on aerobatic airplane I had. I liked

that airplane!

Really like the seat, too!!
Thanks. The blue was what I wanted. The yellow was an after thought, originally I painted it bright orange and changed it to yellow half way through the build. I think it is growing on me, especially now with the decals on. I'll post pics later today with the decals.

... forgot to answer question about old fairing. I still have it, its in the corner of the garage. The guy that had it before me had it mounted with some type of angle iron braket.

where did you get the rear sets from? i'm trying to figure out how to pull mine back and was just going to make a bracket... but those look nice!
Thanks. Just reversed the footpegs, that will set them back a good 3-4 inches. Then cut the brake pedal and shortened it, rewelded it. The shifter I measured then cut and welded an old piece of a harley shifter I had laying around. I have a post going to see close ups before I cleaned up the welds and painted it.

Thanks. Looking for sources of brackets that fit the CX for Vetter fairings. I got some parts from another member here on the board, and he is looking to see if he has the rest of them. I may end up building something from angle iron based on the parts on hand and Vetter's web site having scans of the old installation manuals.

Oh, and now that you added some more yellow on your bike, in the race numbers, maybe that big yellow radiator isn't so, ah, gaudy!

If the seat were yellow leather, I think that would do the trick. Maybe yellow pipe wrap. Yellow plug wires?

How about getting rid of that ugly old rubber brake line and upgrade it to steel braided one. I have a source here that does it for $40 shipped.
Actually, that is one of the minor things I have yet to do. I also need to install the radiater overflow, clean up a few wires under the seat where the switches are, etc... But it will be steel braided soon.

Odd. I've actually been thinking about a yellow or black and yellow bike lately.

Go on over to the Yamaha XS650 site half the trackers are the King Kenny colorway of Yellow and Black.

Cheers, 50gary

Edit: no sugar, Just now noticed this item. I'm not saying it's wrong but I wouldn't say it's exactly right either. The direction of the front brake line fitting seems to be aimed south rather than the more conventional crimped end up?

Gary, new brake line will be on soon. This is just the stock one to get me on the road. Its too long and distracting.
