I've been remarried for 6 years now Wayne....and SHE is the one that wants me to keep the CX and get another one.

Problem is I don't want to spend ANYMORE money on a bike, I've put ENOUGH into this one so I just want to sell it and buy another or trade someone even up. As well I KNOW if I have another bike that is bigger and more comfy the CX would probably just sit and I don't want that.

Bigger? More comfy? You mean heavier and less agile, don't you?

WTH. Your CX is paid for already. Find a second bike that will suit your needs and use the one which is most appropriate at the time. I have both a car and a truck: I drive the car across the state but use the truck for trips to Lowes. Each has its niche.

You will regret selling your CX. Would I lie to you?

I hear ya Jay....don't want to but.....

Find me 10 people that can afford 6 kids with one in college and afford to just go buy another bike without selling his first one first AND being able to afford to keep both licensed, insured and on the street......at this time I am NOT one of those 10 people !

Gotta do what ya gotta do.

It's gotta be your sitting position. When I'm on the bike with Melody the most I feel is legs. A 10% or so lean forward is the way I ride and found most comfortable. Maybe more but it's definitely a forward lean. And the body doesn't get the crap kicked over it when going over bumps.

It's not a matter of can we ride 2 up on the highway....YES we can. With me I HAVE to have the back support....I have to have the sissy bar slid up to the driver position....I can't do this riding 2 up as I have to have it slid back to have a passenger.

I'm thinking maybe on another bike I won't have to have the back support I HAVE to have on this one or I can find one with BOTH the rider and passenger back support.

As well I would swear there were a couple times yesterday that the wind was so strong that I couldn't keep it going 70mph going up an incline....that bothered me.

I could NOT WAIT yesterday to get home and get off the bike....and that's sad....it should be ENJOYABLE and it was not !

Unless you have made up your mind on going BIGGER, I would try some "high-way" pegs on that old girl and see if THAT would give you a little different perspective. Anbd, it wouldn't cost ya all that much. Certainly cheaper than another bike.......

Don,

I don't know....it just seems when I don't have the back support to lean back on then my legs suffer, if that makes ANY sense. When I have a passenger without the back support then I HAVE to lean forward then that puts all the pressure on my upper legs, if that makes ANY sense...probably in lieu of the position of the pegs.

As well Don, you have a different seat and bars than I do. Maybe it's these Buckhorn bars that DON'T allow me to lean.

So how often do you plan to ride 2-up? Seldom? Occasionaly? Once a month? You have a beauty of bike there dude, modify

it if you have to, but don't sell it ,you will regret it.

You were on the right path for the 2 up mod you were doing, maybe give it more thought and time, you can make it happen

AND keep the bike.

Good luck

Trickster,

If there were SOME WAY to make a "rider back rest" to go on this bike ? In other words have 2 backrests, like you see on some bikes. (without "white trashing" it as I did in the beginning of this thread
)

Maybe I'll start a thread in the "customizing" section to see if anyone has any ideas...that MIGHT be my solution.
