Ah yes , I have said for many years" KEEP IT FULL AND KEEP IT CLEAN (INSIDE &OUTSIDE) simplest way to get non mechancial minds to understand how to take care of their bikes, cars or airplanes.
Good on you to treat your bikes like an aircraft . Having had my pilots licence since I was 17 and riding since I was 24 have figured out airplances and bikes main goal in life is to be "love on", if not loved they are out to kill you! Most say good looking fleet, cheers Gerard
I had my PPL revoked when I started developing sudden-onset severe migraines in my mid-30s. Like I was flying solo & needing to be talked down to land when trying to not vomit, & struggling to see with the "chaff" flickering in my vision. 20mins earlier, I was not aware of what was about to hit me. Turns out I am photophobic & need to avoid bright light. Polarised lenses a must 100% of the time -& a peaked cap. .

Vehicles. Keep them accountable -or you will be held to account.
When it comes to A/C maint, we have always said "You cannot park a plane on a cloud...." . Aircrew & passengers wellbeing is in the Engineers' head & hands...
Apologies -off topic...

It's your post ,you can wonder a bit if you like. Have a naked Cx650e that I restored about 10 years ago and keep thinking of putting a fairing on it ,but hard to justify when i also have a Silverwing interstate. Are you still getting Migraine headaches?

Very Rarely. I have a trilogy of drugs to hand to nail one to the wall if I sense the onset. Then I go hide in a dark, cool & quiet place for the rest of the day. But I have to say, it's been a couple of years since the last serious one.

I discovered I'd much rather ride than fly. The ride lasts longer, & you can pull over whenever & wherever you wish.

I sold my Siverwing Interstate maybe 10yrs ago. I had the rear shock rebuilt due it wouldn't hold air pressure, & grafted in a CBX750 front end which improved the handling no end. Triple Clamps went straight in, & the forks were heavier duty due larger dia. Was a win-win. Shame the engine was too underpowered for the all-up weight.

Hi I'm also from Auckland, but out west.Just a query, how high are your handle bars, from bottom bend to top bend. They seem quite a bit higher than mine, and I have always thought I would like a higher set but didn't know if there were any around, without going to the high chopper style. Thanks
Peter

Ditto on liking riding more than flying, first flying cost to much and to many rules to follow and no bathroom at 10,000 ft. Good to hear you have figured how to deal with the migraines, happy riding!

Glad I'm not the only one who got tired of the rules! And the ability to changes course just because of the "I wonder where that road goes" moments...

Gidday Peter. If you search TradeMe for < WHITES HANDLEBARS 7/8" CLASSIC BEND >
or link: WHITES HANDLEBARS 7/8" CLASSIC BEND | Trade Me Motors
-it's the closest to what I have @4.5" (110cm) rise.
The next option is @6.25" (160cm) rise per < Western Handlebars 7/8" Bars > on TrMe, but I found the wrist angle all wrong.
Also to be considered is that you may need to find the Clutch Cable, Throttle cables & Brake line from Master Cyl to Manifold (under the headlight, mounted on the lower triple clamp) of a Custom CX -they're longer. Likewise you may need to either extend the wiring by making extensions (another joint), or again source Custom CX switchgear mit wiring.

In my case, with a bit of careful re-routing & "jiggery-pokery" (technical term), I was able to get my wiring & throttle cables to fit.
I replaced the original rubber brake lines with stainless versions sized for a Custom CX. I also fitted modern sintered pads, the result being a HUGE improvement in braking perfornance & "feel".
The clutch cable was touch & go as you can see from the routing in the Album pics, so fitment of a Custom CX Clutch cable is on my "to-do" list.
