HI I have a gl 500I with full fairing but I bought the fairing used and painted it to match my bike I also bought a Honda clarion type two sound system with cb and the intercom but wherethe speakers are supposed to go someone cut all that area out to fit 5x7 speakers so I ordered some of the polk mm571 certified marine componets with crossovers to fit anyway hooked them up and they sound horrible now I know it isn't the speakers so it must be that the head unit doesn't have the rms power to make them sound proper so my question is do you think the stator will handle a Rockford fosgate pbr 300x2 amp I like keeping the bike all original I know I could just go out and get a new marine head unit and it would work but I want it all original and im pretty sure I can hide the amp in the fairing its so small but I don't know if the stator can handle it im running led lights and the factory headlight and that's it what what do you think

Another thing that might help the speakers sound better would be to seal off the rear.

I had a pair of 6x9's in my 72 Firebird's rear deck, pushed by an old Fosgate Punch 60, and they sounded 'okay', but I installed a set of buckets (plastic enclosures) behind them, to seal them off from the trunk and it improved the sound quite dramatically. They went from a bit muddy bass to a nice, hard hit after installing the buckets.

Get some good earbuds, your stator will thank you.

Bluetooth headphones. Mount the earpieces in your helmet. Monster speakers, sub woofers, pre-amps, amps not required. Prolly dont' need the head unit. Likely only need a good cell fone with 1 billion wav files and 10,000 apps.

Oh, one more thing. The long version of Ina Goda Divida by Iron Butterfly is a gotta have. The drum solo is superb.

I am using the 150w DWG mini-amp. It works ok, and the price was very right! DWG 150 watt high power pro amplifier- for motorcycles, motor scooters, motor bikes, atvs

I run my ipod into it, and am driving some cheap replacement speakers from Sabre Cycle that fit into the original Hondaline speaker boxes. it works ok, but not great. Probably as good but no better than the original Hondaline system. I think it would be much better with some decent speakers.

Also, on my GL I have run a 100w jacket liner along with the 150w mini-amp for hours numerous times with no issues. The rating of the GL stator is what, 250w? And you need to use some of that to run the bike and lights. I am probably getting away with it only because the 150w rating of the amp is a peak one, the continous draw of the amp is something a lot less.

I wouldn't buy it for the GL, but if you already have the Fosgate pbr 300x2 I would be tempted to at least try it. The 300w rating is peak, the rms rating (with a continous test tone) for it is 100w. Since your music is probably not a continous tone (I hope not anyway, but to each his own), you will probably be drawing about a third or a half of that 100w as you go down the road. A GL stator should be able to keep up if you don't run something like a jacket liner or driving lights at the same time. The Fosgates are popular with the Harley crowd, but they generally have bigger stators than our GLs do.

i went with an alpine 50x2 replaced the stock amp had to get a stinger hi to low level converter and the 5 pin cord on the stock amp plugged that in where the headset goes the wires out to hi to low level converter then rca jacks to the amp that i mounted inside a saddlebag and now i got some great tunes sound quality a little lacking but when you doin 60-75 on a bike you dont notice thats its not all that clear but most important i kept the stock radio type 2 system so it still looks factory with alot louder sound
