Hello everyone,

Just wanted to share my thoughts about a really great product for your bike.

Its called the back off xp. The xp does led also. The standard does not. The xp was $4 more so I figured wth.

Picked it up on ebay for about $40 new.

As for size its very small half the size of a deck of cards and alittle thinner than one. it fit very nicely under the seat and took about 15 minutes to install. Instructions were clear and easy to follow.

Note: the wire u need to cut is the brown one off the brake light.

So theres too modes: one flashes quickly 3 times then a longer flash and then it repeats itself til you let go of the brake. This is the one I chose. The other mode is 5 quick flashes followed by a continuous flash til u let go off the brake.

So if your like me and you like to pull the brake a few times when someone is behind u you wil love this. Dont know if its legal in nj or not but dont really care. Any extra piece of mind is worth its wait in gold.

Thanks all,

John

hi john. i have a backoff installed on my 1993 wing. it has been there for about 5 years or so now and works just fine. mine seems a little different then yours in operation but then it's an older model. i have three different modes to choose from. the wing has dual brake lites meaning one on the left side and one on the right side in the top box and then again in the lower side boxes. i chose to hook mine up to the top box only and left the lower brakes come on steady. the top ones flash about 4 or 5 times in rapid succession, first on the left side and then on the right side. they do this about 4 times or so and then go to a longer but still quite quick flash on both sides 4 or 5 times and then to a longer flash on both sides. it will keep on flashing untill you release the brakes and then re-apply. then it starts all over again.

Constant flashing is considered to be against many local and state statutes. 3 - 5 flashes then to steady is usually OK.
