Fired the bike up this afternoon and witnessed the following: while idling, the bike will occasionally backfire on the left cylinder, with enough force to blow the carb backwards out of the boot. I even saw a flash when it happened. Tried remounting the carb in the boot, only to have it happen again. Suggestions?

I've had this after a bike has been left and the Floats and Float needle valves needed cleaning as they have become coated with fuel Patina and or Alloy corrosion in and around the float needle valve hole.



Best take the carbs off and give them a bit of a clean and check the Floats and FNVs,

I have a new set of needle valves & float bowl gaskets, if you need them they are yours.

I'll definitely give that a try; I was hoping to get on the road sooner, but I guess I'll be removing the carbs for a good cleaning. Bill, I'll let you know if I need to get those from you. I'll know more once I get the carbs off the bike and cleaned up.
