Bought me one of those mesh jackets with the armor in the bright dat-glo colors.

It was on sale so I figured I needed a birthday present

Sure makes it easier to comply with the ATGATT.

Zip the liner out and let the wind blow through.

Also the bike ran better ,got better gas milage and handled like a sport bike.

Just like when it's just been polished and cleaned.

Got a cheapie padded mesh jacket. Odd thing about it is that it really seems to be cooler with it on than without. Cooler in terms of temperature - heaven knows my kids think nothing that I do or wear is cool.

I should probably pick one up but it's cooling down and my leather jacket with vents is doing fine with the liner out. Maybe christmas for me.

When I first started riding last summer I picked up a Joe Rocket Mesh and perforated leather for $50, and a Fieldsheer mesh jacket for $40 on Craigslist. For winter I ended up spending real money and buying a new leather Icon jacket. They all have some form of armor/padding in them, which I like. Makes me imagine I might not destroy myself if I go down. Not sure if I'm right, but it helped when I was learning to ride.

Anyway, my point is that ATTGATT doesn't have to set you back hundreds of dollars-- you can do it for less than $100 if you shop around and buy used (but still in good condition) gear.

I agree. I bought a really nice Fieldsheer armored jacket from Bikebandit last year for $58.00. It is very comfortable and also has a zip out liner. You can get some really good clearance deals if you keep an eye out for them. Craigslist and e-bay can be good sources as well.

Don,

You need to come to the Iowa rally with me. There has been a guy selling ventilated jackets for $15-65 and in the smaller sizes like you are there is a great selection.
