Seriously, I'm pissed. My bike's 95% back together, and remember the problem I had with the Ignitech? Yeah, I sent it all the way back to CZ, and Jan said it was fixed.

I still have NO spark, and I have NO connection to the PC still!! I'm rather angry at this point, and I think the simplest way to check this will be to try a different Ignitech box.

I plugged the CDI box back in, and hey - the bike runs on the right side only! The left side of my CDI box is dead, and is why I bought the damn Ignitech in the first place!!

I'm so incredibly frustrated now!!!

I just sent an email off to Jan AGAIN. Dammit, that's going to be ANOTHER MONTH without the bike!

I'm going to go take a video of this BS

Good Night! Are you sure that it is the box? I did not know that half of them could go bad.

I think a more prudent test would be to put the ignitech on another bike that's running well and see what happens.

I'd be happy to do that - anyone in Central Florida with a running CX500 willing to be a test subject? LOL

That said, the bike will run on that one cylinder with the CDI box I have. If I had a good CDI box here, I've no doubt that it would run fine on both cylinders.

Let's start with the obvious. Have you checked the wire you're using to supply 12v to the Ignitech unit?

Yes. 12.8v, drops to 11.6v when cranking.

Video from last night!

If anyone's using an Ignitech currently and wouldn't mind testing mine, I'll pay shipping both ways to have you toss my box on your bike and tell me if it works!

Before shipping the unit again, can you chart the pins in your main connector block? I'll compare it to mine.

I will check that tonight... also, I think before sending it back to CZ and being without it for another 2 months or so, I'd like to ship it to one of the members here to test out - if you've got an Ignitech on your bike, Randall, would you mind if I send this damn box over to you and see if it works on your bike?

If you still have my address, send it to me, if it's DOA on my bike I'll send you one of the units from the latest group buy and we'll take it from there.

As long as you personally aren't out of pocket, then I'll gladly take you up on that offer - I do not still have your address, though
Email / PM me it? I've got to drop by the post office anyway, I'll send it out today!

Doward,

I have a good CDI unit I just tested if you want to borrow it until you get yours fixed.

I also have 2 Ignitech units I have not used yet. Your choice on which one you want to use.

If you want the Ignitech, Cobram could send me your replacement as long as it's a new one and not the repaired one.

This way you could at least get some riding in. What do you want?

Hmm, well, testing the setup with another Ignitech would be a good idea... if you're comfortable with it, that'd get me on the road quicker.

If it does turn out that my Ignitech IS good, it'll be pretty obvious when yours doesn't work on my bike, either!

I'd be happy to cover shipping for you, too. Yeah, the USPS flat rate box is only $5, but still, no reason another man should be out for helping me in a pinch

So I take it you want the Ignitech unit to borrow till yours comes in.

Shoot me if this was already asked. But did you clip it to the hot wire? and did you check to make sure voltage was going through the red wire to the ignitech? I know when I installed mine I connected it to what I thought was the hot wire. but no current was going through it because it was the wrong wire. (I had accidentally connected it to the break light so it only worked when the break light was unplugged.)

Hope you get the problems figured out soon.

OK, let me install the ignitech tomorrow and test it too. I only tested the CDI. I don't mind helping out as long as I have your word it is taken care of and returned or replaced.

Do you want me to send the CDI unit too?

Didn't your bike run for a while when you first installed the new unit? I think it was a couple weeks right?

OK Doward it's tested. Here is a quick video of testing it when the bike was cold. Sorry for the cheap Iphone quality.

As I said before, just as long as you return or replace it I'm glad to help with the test.

Doward, didn't you get my email? You could have just sent it to me, nice of you to offer too, Larry, but you're out on the left coast, quicker I think if he'd just sent me the unit.

If it arrives DOA I'd send you one from the latest GB and get in touch with Jan.

Whatever you guys decide is good, but a straight line always trumps a circle to reach a point, except in advanced math (my cousins a mathematician and assured me that sometimes a straight line isn't the shortest distance.)

Well Cobram & Doward, I just sent it to him next day for $18.30. You'll have to sign for it though Doward. It's supposed to be there by 3pm at the latest. I sent it this way because it gives the PO less of an option to loose it. And it protects the investment not to mention we can get the final answer to this issue sooner.

Cobram, that would be great if they will just replace it and you can send it directly to me. This way Doward can just keep riding. Hopefully!
