I disassembled my forks in preparation for polishing the lowers and replacing the seals. On one side, an aluminum "cap" (called the Oil Lock in the parts manual) came out with the the parts. On the other side, that piece seems to have no inclination at all to come out. It is visible, still in place, at the bottom of the fork tube. Do I need to be concerned, or just leave it?

No need to worry.



If you want to get it out find a long rod and put a slight bend on it so you can slide it down to the part and lightly pry it up. Then clean the area.





Or just reassemble.

Thanks, Blindstitch. Kinda thought the same thing, but I wanted to be sure.
