Tied into what Don said, I think July or August are the best months for the Amish in that if it rains it would not be a cold rain and more people aren't afraid to ride longer distances in a warm rain.
I know I wouldn't want to ride 850 miles in a cold wet rain, but I have ridden it a couple of times now when it was warm and the rain was a nuance, but it didn't stop me like a cold rain would.
There are BMW rallies within 200 miles of me that I don't go to for that reason in May and October. Even the famous twice a year Slimey Crud Run (May and October)I don't go to if heavy rain is forecast and that is only 120 miles away.
