hey all...im stripping down my 81 cx500 as im turning it into a cafe racer...b4 that it was running a bit rough ..missfiring etc ..though it may hav needed a tune up but thought id leave it till id fixed rest of bike...once id removed engine took off cover plate and found oil has leaked from somewhere onto the advance pulsar unit which im guessing is why it was running a bit rough...any idea of where it could be coming from..hopefully just a seal thats easy to get to or could it be something worse..engine wasnt making any mech noises seems reasonably quiet..i dont want to strip the engine done as compressions were fine and there are no oil or water leaks...cheers warren

If this is a CDI unit the Advance and retard pulsar is open to oil splash. No problems there. The resistance of the unit from each connector to the ground plate should be between 185/225 ohms.A little leniency around these figures is allowed.
