I have finally got the bike running and shifting and importantly moving with no apparent issues. I want to thank everyone who has answered, discussed and helped with this process. I never thought that I could take an engine apart and put it back together successfully. I enjoyed the journey and hope that it will be awhile before that happens again. I'm thinking possible project bike maybe!! Anyway, I will get some photos up and give an update as to the original issue that first took me on this road.

Deuce.....

Glad to hear you have been able to work through the trouble with your bike and get her running again.

The wealth of information here is truly wonderful and amazing!

I too had issues with my first bike (78 CX standard) at the end of my first season of ownership. With the help of many guys and a "Garage Party" one weekend, I was able to get a triple by-pass done along with new steering head bearing installed.

I see that you live in Blaine....Hi neighbor!!!.

With your bike now running are you ready to take her out on an extended ride??

If so, how about joining a number of us in the "Annual Spring Ride".

See this link:

Look forward to seeing you on the road!!!
