I was thinking since I already have one 280mm front disc could I get another 280mm disc to mount on the right side of the front wheel and make or get a different right side caliper bracket since I only have a 250mm right side caliper bracket? I guess the main question is is there enough room for both, I am not sure if the offset of the 280mm disc is different from the 250mm disc from the GL500i front end that I have.

I wouldn't know the answer, but a question I have is: Wouldn't a dual disk setup from another Honda make more sense? I think this mod has been done before (CB900 comes to mind; maybe another model).

Well I downloaded the parts manuals from the drop IO and found this.

Gl500

Right fork lower 51421-MA4-671

left fork 51500-MA1-003

Triple tree 53200-MA1-000ZA

Wheel 44650-463-671

Axle 44301-425-870

Gl500I

Right fork 51421-MA1-771

Left Fork 51500-MA1-003

Triple Tree 53200-MA1-000ZA

Wheel 44650-463-671

Axle 44301-425-870

In my opinion I would hunt down a right fork lower or whole fork, right brake caliper and disc.

I have the GL500i forks already on the bike as well as all the stuff to put on the GL500i 250mm rotors, what I am thinking on doing is getting another GL500 rotor and installing it on the right and making an adapter to move the GL500i right side caliper out so that it well work with the larger rotor.

Yeah he upgraded from the 240mm GL500i discs to the 280mm CB900C discs which are thinner then the GL500i rotors. He also used 82 GL1100 caliper brackets.

I followed SpaceTiger's instructions and used the thicker GL500 rotors with no problems. There is plenty of clearance.

All you need is the caliper brackets from an 82 Goldwing or Goldwing Interstate.

The 82 Goldwing Aspencade brackets are different; they fit a larger diameter (296 mm) and wider (10 mm) vented disk which will work on the GL500 with some minor shimming of the caliper. I currently have this setup on my bike and documented it on the old forum.
